There is a very heart warming story attached to this photograph. The horse was a retired milk-horse from Edinburgh who I photographed many years ago, doing his last milk around the wintry Edinburgh streets before dawn. He suffered from a foot ailment, and the treatment for it was to have regular foot baths in saline. I visited him later on Mull, enjoying the ideal retirement. He pulled the oyster cart twice a day at low tide into the salt water which helped his feet heal, and at the same time he was a valuable and much loved asset to the oyster farm.
